Governor Larry Rhoden, Senator Mike Rounds, and Attorney General Marty Jackley began a joint campaign bus tour in the Black Hills region on Monday.
The group launched the trip in Custer. They then traveled to the Hotel Alex Johnson in Rapid City. From there, the bus moved to Spearfish and Sturgis.
At each location, the three candidates met with residents. They addressed attendees and answered questions. The team also introduced the Republican nominees for state treasurer and the Public Utilities Commission.
Rhoden described the joint tour as appealing to him. He cited his past work with other state and federal officials. "For the last 20 months, I've been working with Senator Thune and Senator Rounds and Representative Johnson, and we have made a great team," Rhoden said. "I look forward to working with these 2 guys as part of our Republican team in South Dakota. We've worked so well together in the past. I look forward to what we can accomplish in the future."
The tour continues Tuesday in Wall and Pierre. On Wednesday, the group plans stops in Oacoma and Mitchell. Thursday brings the bus to Sioux Falls, Watertown, Madison, and Brookings.
